Habitat Update

In 2010 – 2011, together with other local churches and organizations, CTS sponsored the building of a four-family complex of new Habitat homes at Coal Creek Village in Lafayette.  Click Here for More Information  These four units were dedicated in December 2012.  Presently, Flatirons Habitat is working on at the Coburn Square site in north Boulder.  Habitat will return to Lafayette in July 2012 to start work on a second four-family complex at Coal Creek Village.  Please check back for ways to get involved.

Please call us at 303-666-4655 to volunteer.

Our involvement at CTS with Habitat, as an Apostles’ Build Partner, entered a new an exciting phase on a cold and windy November Sunday afternoon. The land dedication for the Coal Creek Village Site took Place on November 21 with Pr. Joel and representatives from the other Apostles’ Build partners giving dedication remarks. As Pr. Joel noted, the Habitat partnership is a great fit for CTS. In providing affording quality housing that meets needs in our own community, we work towards fulfillment of our mission as Christ the Servant. Pr. Joel was joined by Pr. Annemarie and five others from CTS. Our Apostles Build Partners for the Coal Creek site are Flatirons Community Church, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Erie United Methodist Church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Rock Creek Church.

Building the first (of two) 4-unit dwellings at Coal Creek is happening! Next steps in the project include family selection (underway), pouring of the foundation, and the start of construction. Opportunities for us to participate as construction volunteers are posted in the narthex at CTS–sign up next time you are at church, or call us at 303-666-4655.

We had a great crew to help on the CTS-Thrivent day at the North Boulder site last summer, and can now look forward to more fun and hard work together on our Apostles’ Build site. The nearest address to the site is 1698 Parkside Circle, Lafayette, CO, just South of Lamont Does Park. Stop by and have a look at the land, and watch things progress. We have a Habitat link on our web page (www.ctsonline.org) to track visible progress at the site as well as updates on Habitat-related opportunities.

On the financial side, we have pledged for one sixth (two Apostle shares) of a $100,000 unit sponsorship. Thanks to the generous support of the congregation through various past activities, including most recently the fall Golf Tournament, about half of our pledge is paid up. If you would like to contribute a direct financial gift to the project, consider adding a designated line item to your automated Simply Giving pledge, or just include drop a check into the plate with Habitat on the check memo. Other opportunities for involvement include lunch preparation for construction volunteers, organizational help, and coaching for Habitat and community families through the Keys program. See the web site for details and contact information.
