Mission Endowment Fund
What is the Mission Endowment Fund?
This fund is designed to support the work of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in and beyond our community. The fund receives unrestricted gifts and bequests from congregational members, their families and friends of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church.
This is a permanent endowment fund that is separate from day-to-day operating funds of the church, which are provided by members’ annual pledges and regular weekly offerings. The Mission Endowment Fund is designed to provide long-term growth of assets, so donors can be confident that their gifts will endure to continue God’s work within our church, the community and the world.
Funds are invested in such ELCA instruments as the ELCA Endowment Fund Pooled Trust and/or the ELCA Mission Investment Fund. At CTS, a Mission Endowment Fund Committee of five church members is responsible for implementing the guidelines of the Fund, which are given in the church’s by-laws.
The Committee maintains a permanent book of remembrance of donors to the Fund. Gifts such as bequests, life insurance proceeds and remainders from life income agreements that are otherwise undesignated are automatically placed in the Mission Endowment Fund.
