Tatoos of the Heart – February 12 thru March 4, 2012
Come and join Debbie Kinz for a book study February 12th, 19th, 26th and March 4th. We will be reading Tattoos on the Heart, by Gregory Boyle, who is the founder of Homeboy Industries, a gang-intervention program located in LA. In the book he distills his experience working in the ghetto into a breathtaking series of parables inspired by faith. Arranged by theme, these essays offer a stirring look at how full our lives could be if we could find the joy in loving others and in being loved unconditionally. 10 books have been ordered, please contact Debbie (dskrun@yahoo.com) to reserve your copy and share this experience together!
Habitat for Humanity – February 26, 2012
Flatirons Habitat for Humanity Faith Relations Manager, Catherine Ballance, and new Coal Creek Village Habitat homeowner Julie Mensik will be our guests for this education hour. We will hear first-hand from Julie what owning a Habitat home has meant to her family. Also, come to learn more about what Habitat is doing in our community and around the world.

The Blues: Theology in a Minor Key – March 11 thru April 1, 2012
A famous bluesman once said “The Blues is the Truth”. Based in part on a book by Stephen J. Nichols entitled “Getting the Blues”, this class will weave bible stories together with the music and lives of blues musicians such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Ma Rainey and Blind Willie Johnson. We will delve in to what blues music teaches us about sin, suffering, alienation, redemption and worship. In the end we hope to come out with a deeper understanding of the value of a theology that peers into the stark realities of life and embraces both suffering and joy…Good Friday and Easter.
Although not required for the class, if you would like a copy of the Stephen Nichols’ book please contact Jim Seely at jrseely@msn.com.
