Welcome

Who We Are

Christ the Servant Lutheran Church has been proclaiming the Gospel of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, since 1985.  We are called to serve others as we minister to all who enter our doors, providing worship, prayer, fellowship and service to others.  Our welcome knows no boundaries of age, race, ethnicity, culture, marital status, gender identity, sexual orientation, economic condition, physical or mental ability.  We rejoice in the amazing diversity of God’s creation, which enriches, nurtures, and expands our life and ministry.   We are committed to continuously learning, teaching, and sharing our faith.  Christ the Servant is a Reconciling in Christ Congregation.

We are a community of over 800 people that have come together from different places and mindsets to be united in Jesus Christ and his teaching.  Our formal mission statement is to “Proclaim, celebrate and live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the glory of God”.  But on the whole you’ll probably see that we’re not a very formal group – we just try to share God’s love and hope with each other through our words and actions.  We sing, pray and worship together.  We enjoy each other’s company; we share our joys and sorrows, and we try to hear the Spirit’s call when we relate to the world around us, through patience, love and tolerance.   We believe that Christ calls all believers to be ministers of the Gospel by what we say and do.  Therefore, lay people take a very active role in worship, education and administration and in caring service to others.

Christ the Servant is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  Many of our members originally come from other denominations and we find ourselves enriched by their experiences.  We hold joint worship services with St. Ambrose Episcopal Church (Boulder) twice yearly and with Rejoice Lutheran Church (Erie) during Wednesdays in Lent.  We also welcome those with limited or no experience with the Christian church.

We hope you enjoy worshiping with us and that you will return again.  Here are some of the opportunities our church offers – please feel free to join us for as many as you’d like.  You don’t need to be a member to take part in most activities.

Communion

All baptized Christians, from any church, who believe that Christ gives his body and blood to forgive sins, are invited to communion or to receive a blessing.  We serve communion at every worship service. A gluten-free bread (in wafer form) is available.

Nursery

At Christ the Servant, children are an important part of our community.  Children are welcome to the worship service.  For those children under the age of three, there is a professionally staffed nursery available.

Coffee Hour

Coffee, tea and juice are provided between Sunday services (September-May).  Please come and introduce yourself!

Becoming a Member

There’s no pressure to become a member, no matter how long you’ve been visiting.  If you are interested in officially joining Christ the Servant, we offer special sessions for new members several times a year.  Please check with the church office for the next available class.  Individualized instruction is also available for adults who wish to be baptized.

Projects are undertaken regularly with local, national and international organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Sister Carmen Center in Lafayette and Boulder Shelter for the Homeless.
